Dan, that is show quality, BUT....

I think you really, really need to invest in some glass lily pipes and what ever else you can do to get the black and grey plastic clump out of the tank. Then put the outflow pipe over the diffuser instead of the Rio and get it out. Once that stuff is gone, this tank has endless possibilities. And I have not read all, so if that was mentioned and already planned, sorry for the repeat.

Looks great, good job.

I am still not completely happy with the rocks, but given the royal PITA moving rocks in Aquasoil is, I think it is good enough for now! Once the plants fill in you won't see many rocks anyways!

I am dosing this tank EI for a 20-gallon, skipping one macro and one micro day a week. Don't know what that ends up being, but it is working well. Basically as long as the tank is pearling like mad I figure all is well.

I upped my lighting to 10 hours a day (7 full blast) and then started to see algae, so I have reduced lighting back to 8 hours with 6 hour blast. I also started OD'ing Excel this week, but noticed my HC not liking that so much. Then I remember I killed the HC in my nano with Excel, so I think I will only spot treat as necessary. Right now I only get GSA on the rocks and glass, and that fuzz algae on what I think is Cyperus helferi (and only on the old leaves).

Both the Blyxa and the Helferi are turning bronze/red. The Ranunculus is doing better in this tank than it has ever done in my Eco-complete tank. I also have a small piece of dwarf Riccia that is doing really well and a bunch of Pellia kinda floating around waiting for me to figure out what I want to do with it. And the HC is finally holding!

Toby - I don't intend to have a show tank - maybe in a couple of years when I feel like I know what I am doing with an aquascape. To put things in perspective, it will be 1 year at the end of September that I started getting serious about planted tanks and learned about dosing, lighting and CO2 requirements of the real planted tank hobby. I have learned a ton, but definitely have a lot left to figure out. I had the diffuser under the outlet but it just didn't work nearly as well as that Rio 50. It is kinda ugly and I probably will do glassware eventually, but don't have any plans currently. I like the gray hardware a lot more than the standard green junk they send with the Eheim.

The Eheim Pro II is working well - And those pictures were taken on Friday and PWC day is Saturday (just finished). Here it is after PWC:

The dwarf riccia is kinda just waiting for me to have an idea. I am sooooo happy I have eradicated all other riccia in this tank. Talk about a pain trying to sort it out of normal riccia...

And the pellia is just kinda jamed between rocks right now too, not sure what to do with it either... I may collect my courage and remove/replace/rework these little rocks on the right side of the tank...

If the Java Fern doesn't start to get bigger I will probably move the other plants left and then place it on the right of the blyxa...

with the inflow lily pipe, the ADA one, don't know about the knock off's, there is a hole where you are able to pump your co2 into.
Then thru the filter as a reactor and out the outflow. This is the plan for the 75 gallon. I will let you know, but if you were to do something like that, then you might be able to get rid of the rio.

Not saying you have to have a show tank, just complimenting the job you have done.

that hole is only on the older style ADA inflow...not the newer one with the slits on it....I do know the 17mm Cal Labs has a hole on the very bottom and the Flo pipes has one above the fan out end.

Really nice tank. It is incredible how fast the HC grows. Is this a new form of "speed growing"?
BTW the long-leaved plants next to the Blyxa could this be one of these tall long-leaved Echinodorus?

I hope someday I'll be able to create something like that! I love that flowing green carpet.

A few more pictures this morning after PWC. Things are filling in well

Top down:

With some of the Cardinals

The Cyperus H. is kinda hard to see with the Blyxa. New Leaves are going bronze:

And finally, I have never seen this kind of algae before... The bigger green spots I mean. I am not really worried about, more curious to know what it is:
